We’re always excited to welcome new members to Cobham Players. Maybe you enjoy the greasepaint and limelight and fancy treading the boards. Or perhaps directing and producing is more your thing. Or you’d like to lend a hand in stage management, set design, lighting, sound, or props and costumes. Or you’d just like to build some new friendships and have a lot of fun. Acting
If you’d like to act in one of our productions, just come along to an open audition. Most of our shows feature new members and the age of our actors over recent years has ranged from eight to over eighty. There’s something to suit everyone’s taste and capabilities, from classic comedy to imaginative new drama and old-fashioned panto. Opportunities exist for small roles or chorus parts for those new to acting, with the more experienced accepting more challenging roles.
We also run regular and well-attended Acting Workshops for members, led by an experienced drama training professional.
Directing
Prefer to be calling the shots? We always need new directors. Once new members have performed onstage or worked as part of the production team, we invite anyone interested to put forward a play they would like to direct. Proposals are submitted to and selected by the Committee and then we offer directorial support and a technical and production team to ensure you can really enjoy the experience without the pressure of producing.
Behind the scenes
All the world is not a stage. There are plenty of roles for those who’d like to get involved but don’t enjoy performing. We are keen to welcome new members of the lighting, sound and backstage, props and sets crew. Whether you already have experience or you’re just keen to have a go, let us know. We’re lucky enough to offer experienced mentoring and excellent equipment. Front of house and bar helpers are very much appreciated too.
Membership options
We have a range of membership options for adults and children, performers and non-performers. The Cobham Players' acting year is from 1st June - 31st May. New members joining mid-year receive a discount on their membership.

Gold
£20 PER YEAR
Gold members are the heart of the society: performers, directors, technicians. Gold membership includes insurance, performing, voting rights, invitations to social events, newsletters and notices.
Silver
£12 PER YEAR
Our Silver members enjoy invitations to social events, voting rights, insurance, newsletters and notices.
Junior
£5 PER YEAR
Our Junior members under 18 take part in selected productions, receive newsletters and notices and insurance.
Patron
£25 PER YEAR
Our Patrons enjoy full membership benefits, insurance, including performing, voting rights, priority booking, invitations to social events, newsletters and notices, as well as featuring in our audience programmes.
